Terms & Conditions

These terms and conditions govern the provision of painting and decorating services by PaintDecorator.co.uk trading as PaintDecorator.co.uk ("we", "us", "the contractor") to you ("the customer"). Please read them carefully before commissioning any work.
1. Quotations
All quotations are provided free of charge and are valid for 30 days from the date of issue unless otherwise stated. Quotations are based on the work described at the time of the site visit. Any additional work identified during the job will be discussed and agreed with you before proceeding. We reserve the right to revise a quotation if the scope of work changes materially from what was originally described.
2. Acceptance of work
Acceptance of a written quotation — whether by email, phone or in person — constitutes an agreement to proceed on the terms stated. A start date will be agreed at this point. We will confirm the start date in writing where possible.
3. Payment
- Payment is due on completion of the work unless otherwise agreed in writing.
- For larger jobs, a staged payment schedule may be agreed in advance.
- We accept payment by bank transfer or cash.
- Invoices not paid within 14 days of the completion date may incur a late payment charge of 8% per annum above the Bank of England base rate, in accordance with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts Act 1998.
4. Materials
Unless otherwise agreed, we will supply all paints and materials required. Materials are charged at trade cost as itemised in the quotation. Where the customer supplies their own materials, we accept no responsibility for the suitability or quality of those materials or for any issues arising from their use.
5. Access and preparation
The customer is responsible for ensuring reasonable access to the property at the agreed times. We ask that small items of furniture, ornaments and valuables are moved from the areas to be decorated prior to our arrival. We will use dust sheets to protect floors and larger furniture. We will not be responsible for damage to items left in the work area that have not been moved.
6. Condition of surfaces
Our quotations are based on surfaces being in a reasonable condition. Where surfaces are found to require additional preparation work not identified at the quotation stage — such as significant filling, plastering, rot repair or mould treatment — this will be discussed and additional costs agreed before proceeding.
7. Guarantee
We guarantee our workmanship for 12 months from the date of completion. If any defect arises from our work within this period, we will return to remedy it free of charge. This guarantee does not cover damage caused by wear and tear, damp, structural movement, or the customer's own actions. Paint supplied by the customer is not covered by this guarantee.
8. Cancellation
If you need to cancel or postpone a booked job, please give as much notice as possible. Cancellation within 48 hours of a confirmed start date may result in a charge for any materials already purchased for the job. We reserve the right to cancel or postpone due to circumstances outside our control, including severe weather affecting exterior work.
9. Liability
We carry full professional cover. Our liability to you is limited to the value of the work carried out. We are not liable for any indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
10. Complaints

11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
